Project 365 ~ Day 353

Spring.

This view seems to clearly illustrate spring in the Peace country - fields, big sky, and weather that changes every minute. I loved the clouds here. By nightfall it started to rain, and it hasn't stopped. Good for the crops, eh?

Standing Alone.

This lonely tree is next to the highway heading into Grande Prairie AB, an hour east of home. I notice it every time we pass, and every time I say I want to shoot it. I finally stopped today and pulled over. I want to go back when the crop is up (hopefully it's canola...)

Daffy Daffodil.

I'm so happy that the flowers are finally starting to bloom here in the north! The daffodils are some of the first up.

Project 365 ~ April 2010

Days 305 to 334 of my Project 365 - one more month to go!

April offered variety unlike any other month - I spent over a week in Nashville, TN where spring was in full bloom. I then returned home to northern BC where the last brown days of winter finally gave way to green.

Project 365 ~ Day 334

All That Remained.

I came out my front door to spy a young woodpecker in the jack pine. But by the time I got my camera out he was gone, leaving only the damage done to the tree. Apparently I must carry a camera 24/7...

Project 365 ~ Day 333

Going Green.

When spring arrives in the north the outdoors changes suddenly. Brown, which has seemed to hang on far too long, goes green in the blink of an eye. One day all is monotone, the next - colour returns!

"I'm Guarding the Truck!"

The local trade fair was this weekend, and since I live near the venue my neighborhood was filled with cars. I didn't even notice this beautiful GSD until I got too close to his truck - he then let out a deep throated bark to warn me away. He was otherwise very polite and never attempted to leave the truck. If only my dogs were so obedient!

Moon in the Clouds.

The days are quickly getting longer, and the moon was high in the blue afternoon sky at 5:30pm. Whispy clouds in the left part of the frame look like smoke.

Dogwoods in Bloom.

One of the nicest things about visiting Nashville in April is catching the dogwoods in bloom. Truly a beautiful and unique flower. And interestingly enough, they are both the state flower of Tennessee and the provincial flower of British Columbia.

The Most Interesting Neighbor.

This blue heron has been nesting at the creek behind my parent's condo for several years, and can been seen daily from their balcony. He was not very happy with me exploring near him, and this was the only good picture I was able to get of him.
